As most of you know Yoga Bywater has been closed since March 14th, 2020 due to Covid. In the subsequent months I have been making some hard decisions and feeling my way through this massive obstacle. I have recently sold the building and am relocating myself and the yoga studio to San Juan Island in Washington State. We’ve had a magical time on the corner and I thank everyone who has been a part of it. There will be more to come.
It is my intention to build a studio, here on the island on my families property, facing the Olympic Peninsula and the Puget Sound, it is spectacularly beautiful here. Often Killer Whales can be seen in close to shore, bald eagles and foxes are abundant. I’m 7 miles across from Victoria, Canada by water. I look forward to teaching here as soon as life allows. I’ll start building when weather and permitting allow. I have been dreaming of this for the last 10 years and the Pandemic forced the issue. Also my parents are getting older and I’m happy to be able to spend more time with them. I miss everyone and look forward to the next chapter. I’ll keep you posted as things progress. Take care and practice.
Yoga Intensives - These 5-20 day intensives are intended to help the yoga student develop a daily practice. The intensive begins with developing strength and balance in the standing poses, gentle chest opening in beginning backbends and leading up to beginning inversions, including shoulder balance, head stand, and full arm balance. Unless specified beginners are welcome to attend. This is a great way to experience yoga as it is intended to be practiced,
DAILY. Classses are 2 hours (7:30-9:30am). Registration of full 5-20 classes recommended. It is best to attend all classes consecutively as classes develop sequentially. Intensives are held at least once a month. Check top of the schedule for next intensive or ask to be added to [email protected] list to be notified of upcoming studio events.
Open practice - Studio is open to students with an ongoing yoga practice. This is for students who do not require instruction and know how to practice safely. This is a time to practice what you have learned or understood from your teacher. This is not a led practice, there is no given sequence or instruction. Please be responsible with yourself, practice safely and with respect to those around you. If you have an appropriate question it is fine to ask an experienced student or teacher, but try and find out for yourself if you can first answer the question. Ideally for ongoing students of Yoga Bywater. $5
*Please come to class at least 5 minutes before classes begin. Please come with an empty stomach. Please bring your own mat. All other equipment is provided. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and bare feet.
